Eyewear Care & Ultrasonic Cleaning
How Often Should You Really Clean Your Glasses?
There's no single right answer – the right frequency depends on how you use them. Sports glasses, ideally after every sweaty session; everyday glasses, once or twice a week.
Sports glasses: after every session
Sweat salts are the most common cause of corroded hinges and damaged coatings (see Sports glasses after exercise: why sweat salt is especially aggressive). If you train regularly, you'll benefit most from cleaning right after every sweaty session, before the salts have a chance to set in.
Everyday glasses: once or twice a week
For normal everyday use – office, home, the occasional night out – a deep clean once or twice a week is enough, topped up with a quick daily wipe using a clean microfibre cloth whenever fingerprints are visible.
Why cleaning more often never hurts anyway
Since ultrasonic cleaning is contact-free, more frequent use doesn't create extra wear the way wiping does. So if you'd like to, you can clean your glasses daily without putting extra strain on them – see also How many bacteria live on a pair of glasses? on why more frequent cleaning pays off from a hygiene perspective.
